Reading: “You are tired” by e.e. cummings
Impressions: It has been many years since I’ve read anything by Cummings, so it was nice to come back to this poet. This is one of those poems where he did not take as many liberties with line spacing and formatting style. There is something incredibly romantic about this poem, and at the same time it has a slightly dark tone to it.
I especially liked the first few lines of the fourth stanza:
But I come with a dream in my eyes tonight,
And knock with a rose at the hopeless gate of your heart—
Open to me!
